Our destination was Lake City, MN. We loaded up mid morning and drove to Lake City for lunch. We get there and I feel like I'm in Hilton Head seeing all the boats nestled in the marina.
We find a great pizza place for lunch. And on the menu is cheese curds. We've heard of them but never had them. So we give them a try. They're wonderful! Well we got FRIED cheese curds, so how can anything that is deep fried not be wonderful :)
After filling our tummies we mosey down the street to a playground next to the water. The weather is back to "normal" and a wonderful 75 degree summer day. Right across the lake was Wisconsin.

Since we were so close we decided to drive over. It took us about 15 minutes and we were in "The Cheese State". We look at the map and figure we'll just go a different was back home so we can sight see some more.

Lucky for me, the way back home led us through the "Big Woods" to the birth place of Laura Ingalls Wilder! Rickey had no desire to go but I insisted we take the 7 mile detour to see the house. It's a recreation of the home the Ingalls lived in but it's on the land Ma & Pa owned. We get there and there were lots of people. One little girl was getting her photo taken in front of the Historical Marker while holding her "Little House" book. It was a really neat "finding" on our trip. I had hoped to go into the museum that was in town but the guys shot down my suggestion. But I know I'll have a few visitors that will want to go back with me!

The one thing about moving to some place new is you do more "tourist" things and day trips to see what's around. And we have to do a lot of site seeing before winter comes! I have a feeling we'll be holed up at home for months :)
